Jackson ran a personal best in all three rounds of the competition. The 21-year-old Jackson also ran the second leg of the winning 4×400 metres women’s relay at the Championships, opening an almost two-second gap on her United States competition.Sherone Simpson – AthleticsFor her achievement in winning the gold medal in the 100 metres at the XVII Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. Simpson ran a season best 10.95 seconds to take victory in the event, her fastest time in seven years. Simpson also won a gold medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, running as an alternate in the semi-final; and a silver medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the Pan American Games, again running in only the semi-final.Rasheed Dwyer – AthleticsFor his achievement in claiming the silver medal in the 200 metres at the XVII Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. In the process, Dwyer smashed Don Quarrie’s 44-year-old 200 metres Games Record (19.86), setting a new mark of 19.80 seconds in the semi-finals. Dwyer was also part of the gold-medal-winning 4×100 metres Jamaica relay team at the IAAF World Relays in The Bahamas and was a member of the 4×100 metres relay team, which won the IAAF World Championship (running in the semi-final only).
